Architectural Heritage Fund Grant Award (AHFund)
In November we were awarded a grant award to help with the professional fees and other costs for some of our plans to help improve the Kirk for visitors. The AHFund support a wide range of sustainable heritage projects and they were able to support us with a successful application for up to £5,000 towards the costs for:
1. The design of the proposed new visitor toilets at the Kirk, including architect fees and structural engineering fees.
2. The re-design of the access stair and other improvements to allow public access to the Kirk crypt. This includes issues such as handrails, fire exits, Building Warrant costs.
3. The design of the protective net needed to allow access to the St Conval’s chapel and the design of a glass enclosure to allow the Kirk exhibition area to be heated.
The AHFund grant will cover a significant proportion of these development costswith fundraising work needed to cover the balance of the costs. We are working on an update to share more of our plans for these areas but include some images below.
