Cultural and Community Events
The magnificent atmospheric interior, flooded with natural light and with outstanding acoustics, makes St Conan’s Kirk a stunning venue to host concerts, exhibitions and cultural events. Suitable for both voice and instrumental recitals, and for poetry readings and theatre, we welcome a variety of visiting and local performing artists each year.
An annual art competition, the St Conan’s art cup, is held for local schoolchildren. Each year a theme is set and, after the awards have been given, all entries are exhibited in the kirk for two months. We are developing a performance space for children, and we host various school events through the year.
The ever-popular Christmas tree exhibition, on the first weekend in Advent, attracts entries from local businesses, organisations and families. The exhibition, which started in 2014, had over 70 entries last year. Visitors, warmed with mulled wine and mince pies, vote for their favourite tree, and a good time is had by all!
