On the 7th November the Friends of St Conan’s Kirk welcomed local visitors and Friends to an event to commemorate World War 1. Over 100 people enjoyed an evening of music, drama and readings as well as an interval of reviving refreshments (necessary because of the cold!).

The Kirk had been dressed with vibrant pink geraniums, large collaged poppies by Dalmally School and ragged saltires hanging from the pillars. The evening included readings and poems by members of the community and the Friends of Saint Conan’s Kirk with music from the Dalmally School Choir and Taynuilt Gaelic Choir, as well as an audience sing-along including “Keep the home fires burning”.

“Everybody seemed very enthusiastic about the evening both as an educational and enjoyable event” said Ian Craig, Chair of the Friends of Saint Conan’s Kirk. “It could well be that this becomes an annual event”.
