This spring and summer we are making improvements to the garden. Work began back at the end of March with our Volunteering Day and has continued with overgrown areas being cleared by community workers. This is opening up new spaces and allowing more interesting and environmentally-friendly planting.
A dozen new shrubs have been added and we are taking steps to attract more wildlife. Pupils from Dalmally Primary came along and helped with this on Friday 14th June. They planted up half barrels, sowed wildflower seed, helped make up and site birdboxes and found an ideal spot for a cosy hedgehog house, all ready for a prickly tenant!
Last year a visitor consultation indicated that more seats around the garden would be welcomed. Five new comfortable wooden seats are now in place, providing the opportunity to sit and enjoy the planting along with the lovely views across the loch.
More plants will be added as the seasons progress and a squirrel nesting box is ready to be positioned.
These efforts are being supported financially by Tesco’s Bags of Help.
