Let there be Light, images of the 1st Phase of Kirk Lighting Project

Some images of the completed first phase of the Kirk lighting scheme, including images of the Nave and South Aisle. The lighting has transformed these areas and revealed new details of the Kirk. Completed with the support of visitor donations, fundraising by the Friends of St Conan’s Kirk and the LEADER Rural Development program. Work carried out by Ramm Electrical Ltd and Paul Covell Lighting Consultants.

The work included the infrastructure/wiring to allow the lighting of the Chancel, Apse and Chapels. These future phases will rely on fundraising and donations.

The south aisle has dimmable uplights, downlights, spotlights and emergency lights.

South Aisle Lighting. The carved timber pillars have been invisible for decades due to the lack of light and were a revelation for many regular visitors once the South Aisle lights were switched on. View of Nave Roof (Photo: Paul Covell Lighting Consultants)
